Herky International’s Herky Gardens is a multi-use campus in the heart of Midtown Sacramento, designed to enrich the college living experience of California State University, Sacramento students. Serving as a dynamic hub, it offers a large variety of essential services and recreational facilities, including retail spaces, underground parking, a fully equipped gym, a theater, office spaces, student housing, and a hotel for outside guests. With its many amenities and preferable location, Herky Gardens provides a seamless blend of living, working, and leisure opportunities for CSUS students.
For this project, my primary focus was wayfinding and directional design, ensuring that students and visitors could easily navigate the vast campus. Given the wide range of services available, a clear and easy to understand wayfinding system was essential for creating a smooth and intuitive experience. I designed street signs, interactive maps, and directional signage to provide effortless guidance to students and visitors through the campus. These elements were carefully integrated with Herky Gardens’ branding and identity, maintaining a cohesive and visually engaging environment. To further integrate the campus’s visual identity, I also developed business cards, apparel, and welcome boxes, extending the campus's identity and brand beyond signage and into everyday interactions.
